KAUN BANEGA CROREPATI                              Amithab bachan has been the czar of Indian films. For the last few years he was losing his old glamour and charm. Many of his films flopped at the box office. However, his maiden appearance on the small screen proved a milestone in the history of Indian T.V.  “Kaun banega crorepati” remains by far the most popular T.V. serial in India. It was the T.V. programme which I enjoyed most. 


                “Kaun banega crorepati started a new concept on the T.V. It gave opportunities to thousands of people to try their luck. It encouraged the interest of the people in general knowledge, history, geography, arts, science, sports, culture etc. The dreams of many people came true. It gave equal opportunities to the people of all ages and region. The young got specially drawn towards this programme. Of course, the greatest attraction was Amithab itself. His presence left a profound effect. This style was inimitable. His gestures were graceful. His personality was dominating. And above all, his voice kept the audience spellbound. The magic of his voice, in spite of his old age, was intact. His husky voice has depth and vibration which few can equal in India. “Kaun banega crorepati” gave opportunities to housewives, employees, professionals and even shopkeepers and businessmen to prove their work. Some went away empty handed. Others won thousands and lacks. The first crorepati was a Youngman from Maharashtra. Of course. Well known film personalities like Shah Rukh Khan, Maduri Dixit and Sonali Bendre were great draws. The money earned by them was donated to the voluntary welfare organizations. The programme continued topping the viewers list for more than fifty weeks.
