Nature's bounty full to the brim

The rain Gods drenched Kerala this year with copious amounts of rainfall. With the monsoon in it’s full glory and the watering holes gurgling out their excess, we were in for a visual treat at this magical place approximately 13 km from Wadakkancherry, Thrissur District. Welcome to Asurankundu dam, a majestic and visually stunning location. This area is managed by the Kerala Forestry Department where a guard double checks your car for anything fishy and a stern advice to refrain from throwing plastic around.

As one navigates downwards, one can hear the roar of water cascading down the rocks. This is when you stop for a moment, visualise the beauty and wonder at God’s brilliant display. A six-tiered waterfall cascading down with a sound that is majestic to the ear. Enjoy the visual delight!!!

The road is very narrow and winding but then you are driving right through the centre of a reserve forest. Nature’s canopy is brilliant with a three-tiered rainforest to camouflage the rains. 

The dam is just 2.5km from the highway. As soon one reaches the spot, one is overwhelmed. Within 100m of the parking spot, you can see nature’s bounty in aqua form. The whole area must be more than 5-7 sq km. The waterbody and it’s visual expanse overwhelms you.
